GENUINE 18th C Soft Paste Porcelain English Tea Caddy Enamel Rural Figural Scenes. This is a late 18th century English tea caddy, made of an off-white soft past porcelain. The body of the paste shows slightly orange through transmitted light which is typical of a few of the 18th century English makers, but since this piece is unmarked Im unsure of the manufactory.

But I do guarantee it be of 18th century English origin and I do guarantee it to be soft paste porcelain. It measures about 4 1/2 inches tall, including the lid, and 2 1/2 inches at its widest. Its decorated in enamel on two sides with small rural scenes of a figure on a path and sitting on a tree stump. These scenes of everyday rural life are not only unusual but also quite charming and make a great addition to any collection. The original lid is similarly decorated, all of which can be seen in the photos.

The bottom is incised with what appears to be a WY and the number 4. There are the typical minor firing flaws and specs and minor wear to the foot rim from age. No obvious wear to the enameling.

Theres a few almost undetectable flea-bite chips to the foot rim that may be from when it was made and are not generally considered to be damage but I want to be sure to make its condition clear. Please look at all photos carefully as theyre part of the description and if you have any questions Ill be happy to answer! Ive collected 17th through early 19th century English, European, Chinese and Japanese porcelain for over 30 years and its time for me to start thinning out my collections!
