18th Century Chinese Export Porcelain Tea Caddy With Original Lid; Cobalt, Gilt. Late 18th century Chinese export porcelain tea caddy with its original lid, which makes it a rare survivor. Decorated with a fairly restrained border designs in classic cobalt blue & gilt popular during this era.
The blue band on the lid and bottle has a double row of stars. There is a central cartouche on the two main sides with an oval and ribbon motif presenting a script style monogram.The base of the bottle has a blue and gilt garland that runs around all four sides. There is a tight non structural hairline that runs from the rim of the collar down to the shoulder of the bottle. There is some minor wear to the blue and gilding - most significantly to the garland at the base of the bottle.
