A tea caddy or tea jar made by Caughley around 1780. It is superbly decorated with a blue ring on top of the jar and the rim of the lid. On top of the blue is a gold chain like design and the jar has some gold flowers and some more gold trim hand painted on it as well. The piece is in great condition and has the original lid as well which is rare.
The lid has two very small chips and the top rim of the jar also has a very small chip. A bit of wear to the gilding but all in all in great condition. Some black firing specs as shown.
The jar is 4.75 inches tall and 3.25 in diameter. It is marked underneath with the under glaze blue S mark for Salopian. Porzellan Teedose Tee Dose Deckeldose 18th century. If you like my goodies have a look at my other auctions for a lot more top maker pieces like Chelsea, Derby and so on.
