Antique 18thC Meissen Porcelain Bird Scene Tea Caddy / Jar Porzellan Teedose
A really nice tea jar / caddy made by Meissen in the mid 18th century. It is hand painted with a superb bird scene to the front and back as well as three bugs / butterflies to each side / top. Gold trim around the neck. The scenes are of superb quality! The teacaddy is in great condition with a minor touch of wear to the gold trim, a glaze miss on the corner of one of the shoulders from when it was made but sadly the lid was lost or broken some time ago. The piece is really in superb condition otherwise so it's an extra bummer! The piece is about 3.875 inches tall, 2.75 inches wide and 1.75 inches deep. The outer diameter of the opening is just over 1 inch should anyone have a proper lid for it. The unglazed underside is faintly marked with the crossed swords in blue, typical of this period of around 1750. A puce line in the same area as shown. German Germany lidded vase Deckelvase Vogel Szene Vogelszene scenic. If you like my goodies have a look at my other auctions for a lot more top maker pieces.
