Antique 19thC Meissen Porcelain Scenic Tea Caddy Jar Vase Porzellan Dose Germany

  
A superb tea jar / caddy or lidded vase made by Meissen in the mid 19th century. It is hand painted with a superb pink ground with lots of fancy gilding on it and it has three cartouches of which two are hand painted with floral arrangements and the last but certainly not the least with a superb Watteau style scene with two lovers in a landscape surrounding. The legs are nice as well with a branch going up them ending in raised flowers on top.

With lots of gold highlights. The lid has the same fancy gilding to it and a nice finial. I have owned these in the cobalt blue color, yellow and white but have not seen a pink one before and it really looks very nice!

The piece is in perfect condition. The tea caddy is not visibly marked but if you squint the right way you see a faint mark in the center underside under the pink ground. The later pieces they ended up marking under the legs.

The entire piece is 5.75 inches tall (including the lid) and has a diameter of 2.875 inches. If you like my goodies have a look at my other auctions for a lot more top maker pieces.
