Chinese Export En Grisaille Ovoid Juno Tea Caddy. Chinese en grisaille tea caddy, Qianlong (1736-95), with applied scrollwork round the foot, depicting the Goddess Juno. In Roman religion, chief goddess and female counterpart of Jupiter. With Jupiter and Minerva, she was a member of the Capitoline triad of deities traditionally introduced by the Etruscan kings.

Juno was connected with all aspects of the life of women, most particularly married life. 5.5"H X 3" W. Condition: Body nice, lid not original and chipped, minor imperfections to be expected.
