An exceptionally well preserved Armorial drum jar, enriched with the history of the East India Company. From 1698 the company was entitled to use the motto'Auspicio Regis et Senatus Angliae' meaning,'Under the patronage of the King and Parliament of England'. The jar displays the Swiss flag which is flanked on either side of the crest on the jar, originally the flag of England was displayed, but later replaced by the Swiss flag as the company gained prominence. The motto was in use until the company dissolved in 1858.
This jar is exceptionally rare and date C. 1800 and the condition is perfect It measures approximately 6 high.
