Republic Era Chinese Famille Rose Square Porcelain Tea Caddy with Lid c. 1925

  

This great Chinese Republic Era square porcelain tea caddy features garden scenes with a courtier playing a stringed instrument, dancing children and peach colored bats. The shoulders and lid of the caddy are decorated with pink prunus blossoms against a slate blue background. The piece is 6" tall (to top of the lid) and is 3.5" square at the base.

The caddy and lid are in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. It has a little wear to the robe of the court musician (probably where it was decorated with overglaze gilding).
